We made the hour-long commute to Cologne on Saturday. It is best known for its massive and beautiful cathedral known as the Cologne Dom. When we got there, the skies were blue and the chill was in the air. We popped the kids in the stroller and took off for the Dom.
It was very crowded with a huge amount of police to show their force and thwart any more “activity” down there. Because there was a service going on at the Dom, sightseeing was at a minimal. Supposedly, there is a shrine to the 3 wise men inside it which houses their actual remains. I couldn’t tell you if it is true or not, but maybe you can investigate for yourself one day or just do a google search.
Outside of the Dom, there is tons of shopping that can be done there. You can visit several other old and beautiful churches, walk the Rhein river, visit a chocolate museum, or hang out in the old city and wonder what life was like centuries ago.
